Students living off-campus have always been the most difficult to reach. Anyone involved in fire and life safety in student housing likely knows that we have made great strides in improving the on-campus, or campus owned residential buildings in the last 10 to 15 years. This improvement was not made easily, and it took a great deal of tragedy and loss of life to get the necessary resources committed. There is still a great deal of work to be done as a large number of residence halls and dormitories still lack modern fire protection equipment such as fire alarm systems, bedroom smoke alarms and sprinklers.
To help tackle these issues, The Center launched their Off-Campus Fire and Life Safety Alliance, which is managed by Director Tim Knisely.
